Latest Studies and Clinical Research

PawLabs is committed to helping maximize dog wellness through high quality, science-backed health products and the creation of quality educational content. We serve dogs and dog lovers around the world

Formulated with Science
Our products are designed and used by the dogs we love. We understand and appreciate the great responsibility that comes with that, and we make every effort to ensure our products are worthy of our canine companions. At PawLabs everything we do is based on science and real research: from our product formulations to our dog wellness and content efforts. We don’t play games or make false promises - we use provable facts and data in everything we do.

For the Love of Dogs (Only)
Dogs are as unique as they are amazing. While many companies design products which are usable for “pets” (dogs and cats), we at PawLabs are singularly focused on the health and wellness of canines. Our supplements are scientifically formulated for the unique physiology of dogs.

Clinically Studied
Our flagship product: G-Max Joint Support contains a range of clinically studied ingredients shown to help support a dog's joint health and overall mobility - as well as help relieve joint pain, increase flexibility and help promote cartilage regeneration.

The studies below from the National Institute of Health (NIH) support our claims on the included ingredients for both the Treat and Supplement-Only versions of G-Max Joint Support.

Clinical Findings #1

McCarthy G, O'Donovan J, Jones B, et al. Randomised double-blind, positive-controlled trial to assess the efficacy of glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate for the treatment of dogs with osteoarthritis. Vet J 2007 174(1):54-61.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16647870
Summary: 35 Dogs with confirmed cases of osteoarthritis are given a glucosamine and chondroitin combination to test its ability to reduce symptoms including joint pain. (Double-blind study with control group)

Results: The dogs who received the glucosamine and chondroitin combination had statistically significant improvements. Showing reductions in pain and the severity of the condition. This study showed the combination of supplements has a positive clinical effect in dogs with osteoarthritis.

Clinical Findings #2

R. C. Gupta1, T. D. Canerdy1, J. Lindley1, M. Konemann1, J. Minniear1, B. A. Carroll1, C. Hendrick1, J. T. Goad1, K. Rohde1, R. Doss1, M. Bagchi2 and D. Bagchi3. Comparative therapeutic efficacy and safety of type-II collagen (uc-II), glucosamine and chondroitin in arthritic dogs: pain evaluation by ground force plate. 2012
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21623931

Summary: 5 Month test of 30+ moderately arthritic dogs to test “therapeutic efficacy” of collagen in combination with glucosamine and chondroitin. (Randomized Controlled Trial)

Results: Using objective measures of pain (through sensor-based tools), the moderately arthritic dogs showed a notable and statistically significant reduction in arthritic pain with maximum improvement after 150 days.

Clinical Findings #3

Efficacy of an oral hyaluronate and collagen supplement as a preventive treatment of elbow dysplasia.Randomized controlled trial Martí-Angulo S, et al. J Vet Sci. 2014.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4269601/

Summary: 105 Labrador dogs were divided into two groups to monitor the rates of elbow dysplasia development in dogs that are provide and oral supplement versus those given no supplement. The supplement contained: hyaluronic acid, hydrolysed collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate, and gamma oryzanol.

Results: At the start of the study none of the 3-month-old dogs in either group had symptoms of elbow dysplasia. At 12 months the control group (without the supplement) showed significant rates of elbow dysplasia while the ‘treated’ group presented a much lower rate of this issue. At 20 months nearly all dogs in the control group showed symptoms while “none of the treated dogs had joint symptoms associated with joint dysplasia”.
